Must See! David Ehrlich’s Top 25 Films of 2014: A Video Countdown

David Ehrlich takes year end best of cinema lists to an all new level. Formerly an editor at Film.com and now taking his talents to Time Out New York, this is Ehrlich’s second annual round-up of the 25 best films. No ordinary list, he montages clips from the films marvelously with music from the year’s film soundtracks for a gorgeous trip through the year’s cinematic highlights.

The video starts with a few minutes of clips from many memorable films of the year, not just the 25 from his list. The opening gives a sense of where cinematic language was in 2014. Next he counts down from 25, giving short clips from the films before giving the title. There is a game in attempting to identify the film, especially if it’s one you haven’t seen but looks appealing. I started keeping a list of titles to add to the Netflix queue about 1/3 of the way through.

Enjoy!
